Exciting Update for Skilled Immigrants in Atlantic Canada
As of May 8, 2019, Halifax, NS – The Atlantic Immigration Pilot introduces a significant change aimed at improving the lives of skilled immigrants and their families in Atlantic Canada. Spouses of immigrants in intermediate skill level positions, like food servers or truck drivers, now have the chance to apply for an open work permit, enhancing their quality of life.
Spouses Gain Access to the Labor Market
Until now, only spouses of high-skilled workers, such as managers and doctors, could apply for work permits. Recognizing the value of enabling spouses to enter the workforce quickly, this update aligns with the Pilot’s mission to retain newcomers in the region.
