Important Announcement for Caregivers
As of May 8, 2019, caregivers currently employed in Canada need to act swiftly to apply for the Interim Pathway for Caregivers, which will close on June 4, 2019.
Interim Program’s Expiration Date Approaches
The Interim Pathway for Caregivers was introduced on March 4 as a temporary three-month avenue for caregivers, their spouses, and children to gain permanent residency. This initiative assists those who have been working in Canada but do not meet the criteria for existing caregiver programs.
Eligibility requirements to apply include:
- Possession of a valid work permit or having applied for an extension or status restoration
- At least one year of Canadian work experience as a home childcare provider or home support worker since November 2014
- Achieving Canadian Language Benchmark level 5 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English or French
- Holding a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent foreign education
If applicants cannot obtain language test results or an Educational Credential Assessment before the deadline, they must provide proof of scheduled tests and assessment requests.
