Enhanced Study Permit Processing for Pakistani Students
Canada’s reputation as a prime location for international education is further solidified by efficient and dependable application processing. As of July 26, 2019, the Student Direct Stream (SDS) is accessible to study permit applicants residing in Pakistan.
SDS Requirements and Benefits
Applicants must submit detailed information upfront, including English or French language proficiency and financial capability to support their education. This thorough approach allows authorities to process applications swiftly and effectively.
Initially launched in 2018, the SDS was available for applicants from China, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam, with most applications processed within three weeks. Expanding this program aligns with Canada’s objective of attracting a broader spectrum of international students.
Pathway to Permanent Residence
International students often qualify for a post-graduation work permit, paving the way to permanent residence via Express Entry, the Provincial Nominee Program, or the Atlantic Immigration Pilot. In 2018 alone, nearly 54,000 former students gained permanent residency, setting a new record.
Official Statement
“Canada’s diverse, welcoming society, high-quality educational institutions and opportunities to work or immigrate after graduation have made Canada a leading destination of choice for students from around the world. By expanding the Student Direct Stream to a more diverse range of prospective students, we’re enhancing the tremendous cultural, social and economic benefits that international students provide.”
