Canadian Football League Celebrates Diversity with Citizenship Ceremonies
Source: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
Highlights of the Event
The Canadian Football League (CFL) is launching its Diversity is Strength campaign with a significant event. Today, the Edmonton Eskimos will host a special citizenship ceremony at Commonwealth Stadium, welcoming 50 new Canadian citizens. These individuals will recite the oath of citizenship in front of family and friends and will then join players and fans in singing the national anthem on the football field.
This ceremony marks the first of three planned by the CFL to celebrate diversity. The Montreal Alouettes and the BC Lions will host the subsequent ceremonies on August 24 and 25, respectively. This initiative aligns with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) #ImmigrationMatters campaign, which promotes the positive impact of immigration in Canada.
