The passport’s enhanced security measures aim to safeguard Canadian identities. Notably, the polycarbonate data page resembles the technology in Canadian driver’s licenses. Laser engraving replaces ink printing, increasing durability and reducing counterfeiting risks. Additional features include a Kinegram over the main photo, a unique see-through window, a variable laser image, and temperature-sensitive ink.
Design and Rollout
Celebrating Canadian heritage, the passport showcases iconic images of the country’s natural beauty across seasons. A new cover design, featuring a maple leaf outline, marks the first major update in decades. The revamped passport will be released later this summer, with more details to come. Until then, the current passport remains valid until its usual renewal period.
