From: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n On January 4, 2019, in Calgary, AB, the Government of Canada reaffirmed its commitment to supporting newcomers. The goal is to help them leverage their skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to the Canadian economy and society.<\/p>\n Newcomer women from visible minority groups face unique hurdles such as discrimination and unstable employment. To tackle these issues, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will invest an additional $5 million over three years into 10 service providers nationwide to enhance employment support for these women.<\/p>\n The Calgary Immigrant Women\u2019s Association will receive $365,000 to expand its Job Ready Employment Training Stream. This program offers employment training, targeting women with limited education and computer skills to help them quickly enter fields like retail and food services.<\/p>\n “Employment is crucial for newcomers’ successful integration.
