Many caregivers in Canada are eager to reunite with their families, pending the processing of their applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Plan to Expedite Caregiver Applications<\/h2>\n<h3>Prioritizing Thousands of Applications in 2021<\/h3>\n<p><strong>April 15, 2021\u2014Ottawa\u2014<\/strong>Caregivers from abroad are crucial in helping Canadian households find necessary care for family members. The pandemic has severely impacted application processing, prompting IRCC to announce a new plan for 2021 aimed at overcoming these challenges.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC&#8217;s plan includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completing permanent residence applications for up to 6,000 caregivers and their families by December 31, 2021.<\/li>\n<li>Making at least 1,500 initial decisions on Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilot applications by June 30, 2021, enabling more caregiver work permits for valid job offers.<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing the digital processing of caregiver applications.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring applicants receive acknowledgment letters by May 31, 2021.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Due to the pandemic&#8217;s challenges, especially for paper applications, IRCC is adopting a new public policy to process 2021 applications that were received in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilots launched in 2019 provide a clear path from temporary to permanent status and offer occupation-specific work permits.
