New College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants Launches This Fall<\/p>\n

Navigating the immigration process leads many to seek consultants’ help. Although most are reputable, some exploit the system. To combat immigration fraud, the Canadian government is implementing stronger protective measures.<\/p>\n On August 10, 2021, the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino announced the official opening of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants on November 23, 2021. This new body will regulate consultants, enhancing oversight, and dismantling fraudulent activities. As an independent entity, it will protect both the public and ethical consultants from exploitation.<\/p>\n Established under the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants Act, the College will wield substantial authority to investigate misconduct and discipline members. It will operate under government supervision to ensure accountability.<\/p>\n This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to eliminate fraud in the immigration system, including a $50 million investment and new educational resources to identify scams.
