To date, 8,580 Afghan refugees have been welcomed into the country, with more arriving each week.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians play a vital role in this effort, and educational institutions are stepping up to provide career training opportunities. Recently, CDI College introduced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdicollege.ca\/study-on-campus\/british-columbia\/community\/news\/cdi-college-launches-national-bursary-program-for-afghan-refugees\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tuition bursary program<\/a> for refugees, offering a 25% tuition rebate upon program completion, along with language training and job placement services.<\/p>\n<h2>Educational Initiatives for Afghan Students<\/h2>\n<h3>Scholarship Programs<\/h3>\n<p>Several universities and colleges have launched scholarship programs tailored for Afghan newcomers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/news.westernu.ca\/2021\/09\/scholarships-afghan-refugees\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Western University<\/a> in Ontario provides scholarships covering tuition and living expenses up to $100,000 over four years.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fanshawec.ca\/about-fanshawe\/news\/fanshawe-launches-new-scholarship-program-afghanistan-refugees\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fanshawe College<\/a> offers free tuition for five Afghan students.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mta.ca\/about\/news\/wusc-program-mount-allison-expands-welcome-afghan-student-refugee-tue-02082022-0903\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Allison University<\/a> in New Brunswick will welcome an Afghan student with support from various sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Technology Support<\/h3>\n<p>The Afghan Women\u2019s Organization, in collaboration with a tech company, provides 55 devices to Afghan families for online education and work.<\/p>\n<p>By accessing education, Afghan newcomers can achieve financial independence and contribute to Canada&#8217;s workforce, addressing labour shortages and fostering economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>To participate in the resettlement efforts, Canadians can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/refugees\/afghanistan\/volunteer-donate.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">learn more about volunteering, donating, or sponsoring<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Minister&#8217;s Statement<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m heartened to see Canadians across the country continue to support some of the world\u2019s most vulnerable, and I\u2019m proud that our country\u2019s colleges and universities are helping break down financial barriers faced by many Afghan newcomers.
