Canada Facilitates Safe Arrival of Ukrainians with Charter Flights<\/h1>\n

Ongoing Support for Ukrainians Fleeing Conflict<\/h2>\n

Canada is making concerted efforts to assist those escaping the conflict in Ukraine. To this end, three charter flights have been organized to aid Ukrainians in reaching Canada. The Canadian government collaborates with provinces, territories, and various organizations to support these individuals throughout their journey and settlement.<\/p>\n

On May 29, 2022, a charter flight touched down in Montr\u00e9al, bringing 306 Ukrainians and their families. They were warmly received by Minister of Foreign Affairs, M\u00e9lanie Joly, and Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.<\/p>\n

This flight marks the second of three planned charters, part of a broader initiative offering a temporary sanctuary for those affected by the ongoing conflict. The next flight is scheduled for June 2, 2022, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Ukrainians aboard these flights have been approved through the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program. Those without immediate housing arrangements will receive temporary accommodation for up to 14 nights.<\/p>\n

Financial Assistance and Community Integration<\/h2>\n

To further support Ukrainian nationals, the Canadian government has introduced transitional financial assistance. Starting June 2, 2022, eligible individuals can apply online for this one-time aid to help cover essential costs upon arrival.<\/p>\n

Applicants can submit a single application for themselves and their dependents. The financial aid will be directly deposited into Canadian bank accounts, and applicants must ensure that the account name matches the name on their temporary resident documents.<\/p>\n

These efforts are part of the larger Ukraine2Canada Travel Fund<\/a>, allowing Canadian citizens and corporations to donate Aeroplan points to facilitate the transport of Ukrainians to Canada.<\/p>\n
